Explain it to me like a 5th grader

What are the basics to intermittent fasting? What does “16/8” and other types of fractions mean? I’m sure this question has been asked before but I scrolled through some and didn’t see it. I think intermittent fasting could really help me and I need some guidance. Thank you so much in advance.

Answer

The basics of IF is simple, you want a long window of no food. Use your sleep time for that window. Best solutions are skip breakfast or skip dinner. So either eat between Noon and 6PM or eat between 8:00 AM and 2:00 or 3:00 PM. Basically grab a 6 hour eat window that works for you.

Answer

16/8 stands for a fasting window of 16 hours and an eating window of 8 hours. During the 16 hours you can drink water, coffee and tea. During the 8 hours you should eat 3 meals with 2h to 2.5h between each meal.

You can also extend the fasting period to a point where it becomes OMAD which stands for one meal a day.

If your goal is weight loss ITF, OMAD and Keto are great tools. Keto stands for “ketogenic diet” which is a low-carb, high-fat diet that puts the body into ketosis burning fat instead of sugar.

The best weight loss result I’ve seen on this subreddit was achieved with OMAD and healthy Keto.
