(F20s) Finally reached 24 hours without cutting corners!!

Hi everyone, wanted to share my personal achievement for others who also struggle dramatically with trying to last at least 24 hours. Little embarrassing among multiday pro posts, but we gotta start somewhere lol. I’ve had great health benefits for my fatigue from basic IF, but with any full day fasting goals I always lose it after 16-22 hours and call it good enough as just IF (which is fine, but being forgiving *every* time is preventing me from growing). The mental challenge is my worst obstacle. I got desperate and tried tempting my partner to take us out for dessert around 6pm and then later bargained that I could just eat a small serving of healthy leftovers at 11pm and do a full day fast after. Each time, I had to say “never mind, I’m not actually hungry..” and just chill out by lying down to read slightly miserably lol. It helped to admit it out loud. **Feeling very hopeful now that I’ve finally reached my first legitimate 24 hours with only water today at 2am. It’s good to know I actually CAN and I’m more confident about planning for future fasts :)** ———— *Please message me if you have close enough stats/goals and would like to be fasting/health gal pals :)* *I’m mid 20sF 5’3 and I’ve gone from 105-110lbs spending mornings-evenings on campus during college to 118-122lbs working in office to 124-128lbs working from home… not overweight, but it doesn’t look great or feel healthy with my personal body type. I get some hiking in on weekends but need to step it up on weekdays too. Serious chip addict.* *I’d like to do 1-2+ day fasts occasionally and maintain at least casual IF nearly everyday. My main goal is to control my emotional hunger and my secondary goal is getting to 110-115lbs. Flexible with everything.*

Congratulations! 24 hour fast is nothing trivial, many people have never done that in their entire lives, and with experience comes valuable knowledge.

I don’t know what your diet is, but I find it much easier to fast when I’m eating more fat and cutting carbs. I know this is said a lot on this sub, but it really helps me get through the first day or two of hunger pains. I have the little keto test strips and if I don’t have some ketones at the time I start the fast, I’m usually in it by the end of the day.

Good luck and happy fasting!

Awesome work. I’m (M29) and remember my first full 24 hour fast and how hard it was. Now, I’m on 22 hours of a 72 hour fast and it feels like I’m not even fasting at this point.

It’s 100% a muscle you build up and you’ll just keep getting better and better at it!

Congratulations! That’s a big achievement! I’ve also struggled to do 24 hour fasts all my life (might have achieved it once or twice a couple years ago, I don’t keep good records lol). But I tried it yesterday and only made it to 18 hours, so I know the struggle. I’m going to try again tomorrow or Thursday and would love to get in contact!

I’m older than you, but similar height, weight, and goals (45F 5’4” LW: 100 SW: 152 HW: 170 - pregnancy CW: prob 125 ish GW: 115-120) 😊 I had been doing so well for months, and then the summer threw me off my schedule/routine (I was only a couple pounds from my goal weight). I was doing OMAD, and then anywhere from 2-4 days water fasts, but I’ve struggled since June. I’m on hour 39 right now, and it was harder than every other fast I’ve done, but I pushed through. Congratulations on your first 24 hour fast!! That’s a great accomplishment!! 🥳 Feel free to message me! I could also use the support to get back on track and get to my goal weight!!
