It is physically impossible not to have lost fat with a 14 day water fast. Fluctuations are due mainly to water weight. If you have had a ton of carbs and a lot of sodium it is entirely possible you’re retaining excess water. To take your argument that they don’t work to it’s extreme, you would be claiming you never need to eat again.
What are you eating on refeed? If you’re eating a ton of carbs your weight will shoot up. 7-10 pounds is a good number to have lost once it evens out
Also, I’ve lost a lot fasting, so it’s not a scam. There is an art to it
Even if you’re discouraged I still want to give you mad props for going 14 days. Even if you decide fasting isn’t something for you, it’s still cool you set your mind to something and had the will power to fallow through on it
Just because it didn’t work for you, doesn’t mean it’s a scam. There are plenty of people that don’t lose weight exercising either, so is exercising a scam 🤔?
First, I would not recommend fasting purely for weight loss. I do it for the healing benefits. That being said, when I lost 16 pounds last month after a fast, I only gained back 5. I recommend sticking to low carb/keto and I hope you didn’t immediately eat 2000cal on day 1 of your refeed.
I had thought if it is intended for weight loss, you need to eat much less for a period of time after, as the fat cells are primed and ready to refill.
I’m not sure how much research has been on this, or if what I’m saying is complete bro science so please let me know if I’m wrong and there are studies showing one way or another.
In the same note I was under the impression you need to eat less for at least six months for your weight to fully stabilize regardless of your weight loss method.
I went from around 350 to 210, it does work but it takes time. I never did a 14 day fast but I did a lot of 48-56 hour fasts (almost every week) and each time I net about 3lb lost a week to start, then about 2lbs, and now about 1lb a week.
Give it time and continue to watch what you eat. When you fast for a long time your body produces stem cells (cells that can turn into anything) if you eat anything with sugar when you refeed, your body will create more fat cells to store the excess energy. When your goal is fat loss specifically, you should continue to use your muscles and walk or you’ll lose a lot of muscle. It doesn’t mean hard difficult weight lifting, but some light work outs and dumbbells’ type weights are fine. It worked for me anyway. Good luck.
Where your meals high in carbohydrates? There are usually between 4 to 5 pounds (this variates from person to person) that are just water retention, fasting takes you to a state of ketosis and you loose the water weight initially and then the rest of the weight comes from fat. If you eat too many carbohydrates that will cause your body to regain its water weight, but that will go as soon as you fast again. I follow a keto life style with fasting to avoid that, that way my body is in ketosis even when I eat.
Keto is not necessary for fasting, but it does help to at least have low carb way of eating.
Fasting definitely makes your weight swing a lot. I was fasting and went to the hospital. I couldn’t eat while I was there but I was on liquid IV only. I just ate a bowl of soup and jello before discharge but from the IV fluids I gained like 8 pounds
Iv was normal saline
