fasting for g.i. heath?

I am starting a fast with the goal of bowel cleansing and ultimately quickening my metabolism. I was wondering if anyone has had positive g.i. results from an extended fast?

I have found OMAD has seemed to rid me of my VERY many IBS type symptoms. One important thing- I generally eat my meal around lunch time. I notice when I eat dinner I will almost always get heartburn. Pretty much if I eat after 4pm I get heartburn at night now. But small price to pay for no more bloating, gas, and generalized discomfort. I think it has something to do with allowing the Migrating Motor Complex to do it’s job, rather than stopping it multiple times a day by feeding.

Did a 12 day water fast because I was desperate and broke and it was cheaper than the alternative which was expensive antibiotics to treat a different issues. Was miserable the first few days and then felt really good and then crappy the last day or two so I broke the fast. Goal had been 14 days. It did really help all my gut issues for about a year and then they started coming back. I’ve done shorter 2-3 day fasts since which help but not as much as the 12 day one. I think that having no food in the system just gave my whole body a rest and allowed a lot of healing in the gut to happen.
