Fasting for Lent 2022

Just curious if there are any other folks here fasting for Lent. I'm going to fast for 36hrs on days when meat isn't allowed (i.e. Ash Wednesday and every Friday).

Answer

Last year I only ate on Sundays during Lent. It got easier after the first two refeeds.

This year after doing more reading and self examination of how my body reacts to different fasting models I’m planning rolling 72 hour fasts (eating every three days). I believe this will be easier to sustain, provide opportunity to shed fat/clean up my body, and do a lesser amount of damage to other goals like not messing my metabolism up too much and still getting physical tasks completed.

I’m planning on fasting more for lent. I’m not catholic, but I try to use it to improve myself. I’m fasting 24 hours today for Ash Wednesday. I’m planning to eat pescitarian the whole of lent (except st Patrick’s day and my birthday). I’m going to try to lengthening my fasts. I think I might try to do a 48-72 hour fast or two during these six weeks. Really want to focus on improvement in all aspects of my life, health, faith, mental soundness, and productivity.

I was also thinking about fasting every Friday of Lent in addition to today, Ash Wednesday.

I’m wondering about eating tomorrow and then fasting again Friday. I’m kind of out of practice so I’ll have to see if I can do then so close. In the past it was usually easier to keep going than to start up again.

But I’m struggling with how to not focus on the fast being about me/weight loss etc.
