Fasting for the weekend - who’s in ?

Please reply to the thread with YOUR fasting rules. I am going to personally water fast with electrolytes for 3 days. I also will have black coffee as many as I want. Feel free to ask fasting questions and I'll see if I can answer them. (or more likely someone with more fasting knowledge than I answers for you) \----- Updates ------ # Movie night is tonight ! At Friday 8pm EST (tonight) **Fasting 40 DAYS ON WATER saved my life! Water fasting documentary** [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DX3Q431VLE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DX3Q431VLE) Start the movie at exactly Friday 8pm EST. Comment about movie in this thread. Note: I have not seen this "movie" / "documentary". I hope it's not stupidly crazy. I highly suspect there will be many parts of the movie I don't like / think is stupid. I currently feel fasts longer than 1 week are likely unnecessary from an improve your health standpoint. I also, given a particular scenario, could see fasting longer than a week could be useful. Potential research topics (so far) >**kidney stones**: does a couple of spoons of **apple cider vinega**r help ? Does magnesium or potassium **citrate** help ? I will also see if there is any credible information that fasting actually raises the risk of kidney stones (i'm positive not drinking water would make kidney stones more likely - duh!) EDIT - Friday December 02, 2022 18:48 EST The backup "movie" will be this YouTube video. It's likely better for newbies. I'll suggest switching to this video if the original choice is too whacky. I’m in. I’ll do a water fast with a daily multivitamin and no electrolytes. I’ll start now. I’ve had a few protein shakes today, and a keto chicken/pepperoni/mushroom/green pepper stir fry thing for lunch.

I’ll start now and go for 48 hrs.

Answer

Sounds good!

I’ll start around 6pm after dinner and break Sunday after at least 42 hours have passed, but ideally 48.

23NB, 172.6 lbs this morning. GW 150ish, expecting to be around 170 by Sunday.

Rules: Water, 0cal lemonade drops (Mío generic), and herbal tea.

EDIT: Immediately realized I have a tattoo appointment tomorrow so I’m gonna have to eat beforehand, but I should be able to get in at least 26 hours after that.

I start fasting after I get the kid to him mom’s Sat before work, run somewhere between 72-96hs, have an OMAD, then fast again until Thurs night when get him again. I’ll get my electrolytes in miso soup, or Better Than Bullion. I make home made sauerkraut and carrots which I’ll nibble for probiotics. Because I’m fasting for ketosis and autophagy I avoid MTC oil as a matter of routine, but if I have a particularly challenging mental day ahead of me I’ll start with no more than 2 tablespoons of the same.

I am 100 hours into water fasting. Indoor rock climbing 2nd day. Salsa dancing last night. Going for another climbing session tonight. Haven’t tried exercising like this before but giving it a go. Was shooting for 21 days but can’t wait to start eating and lifting again lol.

Answer

10 hours in already, my fast is water fast with occasional tea and coffee. Aiming for at least 36+ hours, because that’s the optimal time when fasting doesn’t affect my physical state, after that i may experience dizziness, so we will see.

Answer

This is conveniently timed. I’m in the middle of a 4 day stretch (longest I would’ve gone). Currently @ 43 hours. The quarter pounder beef patties in my freezer floated across the brain not too long ago.. I’ll savour those on Monday.

Answer

Cool idea.

I’m doing rolling 30:16 fasts (lunch one day, dinner the next, lunch the day after that). I started at noon ET today and will eat tomorrow at 6pm. If I’m feeling like stretching it longer I’ll go for a 42-48hr fast eating Sunday morning or at Noon. Only water, coffee, ACV, pickle juice and tea. Will remind myself that I’m lowering my weight set point if I get a desire to eat or get bored. Will use salt and magnesium to keep headaches at bay/help with sleep if I decide go beyond 30 hours.

Answer

Trying to get at least 24 hours in fasting… im at 22 hours and feel lightheaded though. so far i had some water, zero sugar ginger ale for electrolytes (120 mg sodium per can), and an energy drink… need help with electrolytes cause I have no idea.

Hi Ketosis.

You replied to me in a thread of mine in keto that got locked, so I didn’t have the chance to reply back

that was your post: https://www.reddit.com/r/keto/comments/z9dj5s/comment/iyjzzdg/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 to my bad blood tests

you said that lipids go crazy during weight loss and that I shouldn’t fuss about it, and that still eating a fair amount of carbs is called the standard american diet, I wanted to reply to that, since you said you couldn’t in dms

about eating a fair amount of carbs being standard american diet- I don’t fully agree with that, the standard american diet is like 225-300grams of carbs every day, I don’t eat anywhere near that, I don’t exceed 20 grams of carbs 5 days of the week, and on weekends I don’t go beyond 150grams, I also barely touch processed foods or sugars (sweets etc)

and on the weekends when I eat more carbs, I cut out the fats and red meats (and instead I eat lean proteins like chicken etc)

the second thing is you mentioned that while lipids go crazy during weight less, you said that my high trigs shouldn’t be affected by weight loss and should have been lower, and that it’s a concern- do you think that the trigs are high due to the 5/2 protocol I do? because I don’t quite get how are the triglycerides almost double what they were during my previous blood tests, considering I ate way more carbs back then and eat way less now.

ultimately I started this 5/2 “keto” protocol because I wanted to lose weight and because I was always hungry and craving bad food, and had less energy, not because I had health issues or bad blood tests (because as you can see my previous blood test from a year and 4 months ago were much better than what they are now), but I was fatter and didn’t feel great.

so far doing this protocl I am losing weight, have way less cravings for bad food, and feeling more energized, but if it means that I become less healthy, perhaps I should change back, what do you think?
