Fellow tall girl here: I’m 5’10 and was 184. I read Fast.Feast.Repeat which is such a great resource. I went right into OMAD. The first month was tough no doubt but really the first two weeks were really difficult then it slowly got better. If I were to do it again I would start 18/6 and ease into OMAD after a month. I’ve consistently lost one lb a week and am down to 159. Now that I’m lighter I’ve added body weight exercises and more walking/hiking when I can. I eat whatever I want and count no calories, mainly because I don’t ever want to do that in the future. I have noticed eating more high fat foods keeps me fuller longer. My favorite is salmon rice and broccoli. If you are vegetarian you will have to get creative. Also, fasting works differently for everyone so don’t be afraid to try different schedules. If you haven’t read that book…I recommend it, it’s an easy digestible resource.
I’m a 42 year old female, 5’9, and my starting weight was 178 and I’m down to 168 after a month of alternate day fasting. Unfortunately, as a woman with all sorts of fun hormones, I tend to hold onto my weight, despite how active I am! I found that OMAD just didn’t work for me and I needed to extend my fasts in to the 36 to 40 hour range to actually see progress. I’m a flexitarian, but lean heavily towards Plant based/pescatarian. I stay away from refined carbs and still eat plenty of grains and vegetables. Yes, I know this means I don’t stay in ketosis on my eating days but I still typically keep my carbs under 100 and I try to eat within a 6 to 8 hour window. Eating carnivore, as someone else suggested, is just not an option for me, and does not sound like it’s not option for you! I’ve also found that a workout the morning of my full fasting day helps burn off the my glycogen stores from the day before, and I get back into ketosis more quickly.
Edit: Also, definitely try to get your protein intake up! I do this by consuming plant-based protein shakes. Also, the lower net carb you can get I find the better it controls your hunger.
Sometimes the sensation we tag as hunger is actually thirst and dehydration and by eating we take in some fluids and feel better. When I feel like I have a raw or empty stomach, I drink some water and it usually fixes it. You may want to get your blood sugar checked to be sure there isn’t an issue there making you feel off as an alert of sorts, but if all is well, water could help.
Possible problem is all the carbs from vegetables.they all turn to sugar and your liver and body are having a hard time secreting all the sugar break down.complex carbs take up to three days to break down in body.also your hormones play a major factor.I would look at keto, carnivore or paleo possibly to keep vegetables in dietthat you like or diet elemination to see what doesn’t work for you
For what it’s worth, you’re still in a good area. You are taller than most women, so take that into consideration. I completely understand though… only we know when we feel our best and the body has a lot to do with that. I prefer a trimmer slender look for my body type but I’ve been told to bulk up for years(usually by the tall fat men in my family). Just be sure that your ideal image is still within the range of being objectively healthy.
I am 6’ 2” and about 185 pounds, but I swear anytime I’ve broken the 190 barrier I have just felt uncomfortable in my own clothes and skin.
