I’m traveling back to UK over Easter with my kids so I’ve quit alcohol until I leave, doing a 36 hr fast every other day and plant based keto until I fly. Just so happens to coincide with Lent! Pretty sure the 36 hr fasts are going to be the easy part!
Today my husband and I are observing our first “traditional” Ash Wednesday fast! It’s the first year I’ve had the confidence and willpower to do a 24 hour total fast. I’ve found it genuinely spiritually enriching to observe traditional Catholic fast days (not just the “three small meals” or even “no snacks between meals” versions) and I’ve found it easier to actually spend the day in contemplation and reflection in that state.
As far as Lenten resolutions…I’m really trying not to make them too diet-y, but we are considering doing a Monk’s fast each Friday when possible. We’re vegans anyway so a meatless Friday isn’t exactly an event for us.
