Fasting post OP?

Hey guys and gals, lost 4 stone through IF a few years ago and done a few longer fasts in the past so please don't think I'm going in blind per se, however I'm not too clued up on the exact science behind body recovery during a fasted state so I'm after some advice. I work a relatively physical job so longer fasts are a bit of a nightmare to schedule in, however... I'm due to have a fairly minor operation in a few weeks which is going to involve me being sat up for a couple of days with very minimal movement etc and I'm thinking this could be the absolutely perfect chance for a multiday fast, firstly for that lovely fasted clarity, secondly for some a bump on the weight loss and general reset, and thirdly to let my body focus on healing...what's your thoughts? Am I going to help or hinder my recovery by fasting?

Answer

That’s probably going to be a good question for your doctor (assuming you have a doctor who is knowledgeable and encouraging with regards to fasting). Probably depends on multiple factors including weight, body fat, age, and fasting experience. Hope you find the answer you need.
