It’s funny, every month I have a moment when I’m like, why is this suddenly so hard? Why do I want to eat everything?? Oh yeah period time. So I do my best and try to at least stick with 16:8, instead of usual 20:4 or 22:2. Sometimes I have a day that gets away from me but I get it back on track ASAP because it’s harder the longer you let it go. It’s annoying that women have to deal with a derailment every month, but what can you do? 🤷🏼♀️
I liked what someone said on a post the other day, “Cheat meals, not cheat days,” I just started my cycle yesterday and PMS is always the worst part for me. I’m doing 16:8 and ended 2 fasts last week at 15h when I felt hungry, had a cheat meal a couple days but mostly stayed on track. I feel good today doing a 20:4! Listen to yo body but don’t be like me in the past, who used it as an excuse to go nuts and fall off completely.
I keep my eating window roughly the same but increase my carbs a little for the few days leading up to my period. I normally stay around 30 g carbs but I bump it up to 50-70.
I am trying not to stress too hard about it but I’ve had a solid 60 days of staying at 1200 calories a day no matter where in my cycle I was. I feel like that’s the more important piece.
This is my 2nd week fasting, and started my period within the first couple of days of me starting IF. It did not effect my hunger whatsoever and I didn’t crave anything. I think it’s because of a new med the doctor put me on around the same time that is giving me no appetite at all but I’m not entirely sure.
It depends on your comfort level. Personally, I wait until I’m naturally hungry when I’m on my period.
I need to look more into it but a lot of PMS issues come down to inflammation and supposedly IF reduces that.
Some people say not to because your metabolism gets a boost on your period, which is why you’re hungrier. Regarding that, they also believe IF messes with your hormones but I have not see any solid evidence for that.
But like I said, if you wake up hangry, low blood sugar, and about to eat your cat, just eat something (maybe increase your fast up to like 9-5 instead of 12-8?). Just throwing ideas out there.
