First day of IF

5”7 female- current weight is 257 pounds. By far the heaviest I’ve ever been. Weight gain is from steroid use due to lupus and overeating. Hoping this approach will help me manage my weight.

Awesome! I started IF @ 16:8 but within a month, stepped it up to 18:6 and some OMAD. I know that first day is scary but once you ignore any hunger pangs the first day, you’ve got it in the bag.

Worst part of my day, packing my kids lunch in the morning before school. My body is screaming for scrambled eggs, bacon and toast and making lunch.. But once that is done and I have a black coffee downrange, all smooth sailing from there.

I would listen to “intermittent fasting stories” podcasts. Many of the guests on the show said that they actually didn’t lose weight right away, and some gained weight in the first few weeks. The body needs to go through a healing process and get used to burning fat, so don’t give up if the scale is not moving. Maybe get rid of the scale at first and go by how well your clothes fit.

A big thank you to everyone for their lovely posts and encouragement. Appreciate all of the helpful advice too. Day one went well and I am not onto day 2. Some headaches, but feeling good overall. Not as hungry as I thought I’d be. :)
