Stick with it. My very first fast ever was 4 days. This was interesting considering that I was a chronic snacker and could never be hungry. I got to learn about my food triggers and to figure out ways to untangle them from my habits.
Even with family you can find ways to work around it. Me, the easiest time to fast is weekdays; in my case a dislike for spending money on lunch plus the hours of captivity are highly conductive to fasting. If you start your fasts after dinner all you need to do is making it out the door without breakfast and by then you already have 12 hours on the clock.
