Hi! I’ve done around 9 fasts the last year and a half, from 2-14 days and everything in between. I’m sorry to say it has not helped my quite severe IBS at all, and I’ve read others stating here that it might even exacerbate symptoms.Best of luck to you.
Yes. Cured SIBO with extended and intermittent fasting. As far as I know anyway. I had tried 3 rounds of natural antibiotics over a couple years and it always came back. 2 week water fast, then no carb/no fodmap diet for probably 2/3 months and intermittent fasting.
I know that if I only eat once a day, my problems are cut to a third, and if I only eat every other day it’s cut even more. That’s not a long term cure, but it helps in the meantime. I’m at 48.5 hours now out of a planned 72 and I feel so much better running on empty. Eventually I do hope to find some anti inflammatory benefits (along with weight loss, and renewed insulin sensitivity).
This is the second time I’m fasting in a 2-year period, and one of the reasons I wanted to do it again is because I usually feel way too bloated and fasting helps a lot with it. I’m doing OMAD and the pain and discomfort has reduced dramatically, is amazing not having to worry about it as much.
