You can die of fasting, it’s called starvation. Really depends on how much fat reserves you can live off of. For longer fasts you need to take electrolytes that are needed to keep living but that is for like 21+ day fasts. People are just scared of fasting because they are used to the three meals a day lifestyle when historically our ancestors had consistently gone days and weeks without food.
Yes, you can die of fasting if you don’t do it correctly. This includes not supplementing electrolytes, developing malnutrition, and breaking fast incorrectly.
Me personally? I lost 40lbs and look younger and am healthier than before.
When I was working in an ED unit we had several patients who “fasted” until they are thin enough…this came along with saver underweight, too low body fat, cardiac issues and two had strokes with very little recovery. People have died or had serious health issues from fasting when it’s not done properly.
