Hey guys! I’m pretty new to this whole fasting thing so I don’t have a lot of experience.
I started doing 16:8 about 2 weeks ago, haven’t had any problems with feeling hungry or weak or anything so I stuck with this time frame.
But three days ago I started getting bad heartburns in the night. I fast from 8pm to 12am. Any tips on how to handle or prevent this?
Thank you!
Answer
I have this issue and what works for me is a different window. I do 18:6 and stop eating at either 6 or 7 until 12 or 1. What helps though is not eating so late at night.
I cut down on coffee and do not drink it while fasting. I only drink chamomile or mint tea from 6pm until sleeping. I continue to only drink tea in the morning and I have one coffee during my eating window.
Not sure which of these activities has helped me but I used to suffer from heartburn, acid reflux and gastritis especially when fasting.
Answer
- stop eating at least 2-3 hours before going to sleep
- make sure you are chewing your food thoroughly and you are not eating too quickly. Dont rush yourself to try and finish before your fast time starts. Better to chew thoroughly, eat slowly, and extend feed window instead.
- it’s better to sleep on your left side. Sleeping on right side can cause acid reflux, heart burn, etc.
