Hello!

Hello everyone! This is my first week restarting IF. I had tried prior to covid and only stuck with it a few months so now I want to try again. 5' 1" F 27 y/o. Around 150lbs? Not sure, I stay off the scale for mental health reasons. Since covid I now work from home and have gained so much weight... I'm now on day 3 of 16:8 and just want to know of anyone else's experience. I'm just a bit nervous of other ppls perspectives. The last time I went about this I had a few friends and family members judge or poke fun of me doing IF which ultimately led to me stopping. Anyone else go through something similar?

Answer

I don’t discuss it with anyone. If someone is passing out snacks in the morning at work, I just say I’ll grab one in the afternoon with tea. For social stuff (dinners out), I just adjust my times or don’t worry about that day. Zero reason for anyone to know what I’m doing with my body

I’ve been in a similar situation. Even if I just say “I’m skipping breakfast these days” I have people in my life who react like that is too extreme. I’m at a point now (34 years old) where I just respond with something like “it actually makes me feel better and I’ve had more energy, so I’ll continue to do what feels good!”

The other thing I’ve learned? Sometimes I just don’t tell certain people. My partner is incredibly supportive and he’s the only one I see on a daily basis anyway.

You are going to do so well! F60 5’1” sw 171 cw109! Started out doing the 18/6 for about a month and quickly moved to OMAD. I did keto with it meaning low carbs and cut the carbs. Drink over 128 oz of water/ coffee. Most of my weight came off in under 6 months. You are way younger and I just feel like you are ready to just headfirst into IF. You can do it! If I can you can too!!!

Answer

Don’t feel obligated to explain what you are doing to others. You can simply say “I’m not hungry” and if they press you can say “I already ate”. Most people will not understand this lifestyle! This lifestyle works very well, even for us petites.
