Help for the love of God(s)

Because of my respect of the mods, I will mark this nsfw! You ever get so hungry that you end up ordering a shitton of food? Because if I’m not alone in this please someone say something! I did the responsible thing and ordered bone broth for when my fast ends. But then I kept adding and adding and then I pressed order. The worst thing is, most are canned goods. So I’m like damn soup is good to ease my way back to sold foods but dear God, why did I get so fucking many?!?!? And the fact they’re in cans means they won’t spoil by the times it’s time the fast is done so they’re just gonna stare at me… menacingly… Will I break today? Stay tuned to find out.

Answer

Yes. I can remember planning ahead for all the things I was gonna eat. Tried to eat bacon straight off a 28 day fast. It was soooo salty I could barely eat one piece.

Really committed to going healthy after this one

Answer

Never order food when you are hungry. So you messed up. Do better next time. If you are super hungry try drinking some ice water, it stuns your stomach a bit. I found eating just 4-5 peanuts works well, i dunno why. How about chewing some sugarless gum may be helpful.

Answer

Haha yes. Buying food while hungry always results in over-buying. The only way to shop for groceries while fasting is to make a list in advance and stick strictly to the list. Don’t buy anything that’s not on the list, no matter how much of a good idea it sounds like. Pretend that you work for Instacart and someone just handed you this list, and you will get in huge trouble if you add things to their order.

(Source: One time my boss sent me to Costco to restock the snacks in the office breakroom, with no specific list. I had not eaten all day. I bought a lot of snacks.)

My first fast i broke with an avocado. It was so rich…and delicious. And healthy. Honestly I think anything will probably taste pretty good. So go healthy

But don’t cave unless your kidneys start hurting or something

You need to set up a few “strategic retreats” for yourself, friend. Meals you can make in a pinch, have all ingredients on hand, enjoy, and that are as “fasting friendly” as possible. I use oatmeal and blueberries, meaning 2 cups of old fashioned oats and 4 cups of frozen blueberries. Green smoothies work too, especially if you throw a few beans or some oatmeal in with it. If I’m crashing on my fast, I eat this first and say to myself, “Get through this and you can have what you want.” You’ll be a different version of yourself on the other side of your strategic retreat meal, trust me. The trick is doing it.

You’ll still have broken your fast, but all is not lost. You’re probably <1,200 cals out and can win back ketosis with a good workout and a few extra hours. Cheers and good luck!
