Help me refocus and recommit!

I’ve been doing well with IF (mostly 16/8) and low carb since of October—down about 15 lbs, despite lifting regularly and adding a lot of muscle. Then, last week, I caught the Cold From Hell; now, I have the follow-up, the Sinus Infection From Hell. And the thing is, NOTHING messes with my willpower like being sick. I crave carbs and sugar for energy so badly! For one day, sometimes, I’ll indulge it and get right back on the horse. But at this point I’ve had a whole bad week. I haven’t gotten on the scale, but my food and my inability to exercise mean I must have done some damage. Anyway, tomorrow is a new month. Even though I still feel awful, I’m buckling down. This post is just asking for some encouragement/butt-kicking—and, if you have them, tips for staying on course even when you’re feeling really bad. Thanks in advance, and here’s to a solid March for us all!

You can absolutely overcome a week off the IF wagon. Stay off of the scale for the next week or so, and you’ll likely recover all of your missteps if you stay on your 16/8. It’s super hard being vigilant when you’re feeling crummy, and it’s great that you’re ready to refocus.

Best of luck!

Firstly - wow well done!!

Secondly - you have already proven you got this. There is nothing that can get between you and getting back in grove, once your health clears up. So basically chill out and focus on getting well!

Thirdly - perhaps you ran yourself into a vitamin D and zinc deficit with all that exercise on low food intake.. I would look for ways to boost them if I suddenly caught a cold.

‘New month’ type of thinking can hurt your willpower later on. ‘New day’ is better in my opinion.

Main point - chill, get well, you got this 100%.
