Hemoglobin

How does IF affect hemoglobin? I am on a medication that can lower hemoglobin as a side-effect. Will my 20:4 impact this in any way? I’ve been eating this way for years and find it difficult to eat more often, but will if necessary. Thank you.

Answer

There generally isn’t any physiological significant changes. If you become dehydrated, your hemoglobin might raise slightly due to hemoconcentration, but the actually amount of total body hemoglobin shouldn’t actually change within the short term (< 2 days). The important thing is to keep sufficient caloric intake to keep the bone marrow happy to keep producing RBCs
