How can I get through the cravings?

A few weeks ago I only managed a 1 and a half day fast because during dinner time the cravings were so strong I gave in and I just started a fast again. I developed a bad habit of eating a lot when I used to have health problems so I need to break the habit which I believe fasting will help with

Answer

Drinking a lot of water helps.

But dealing with hunger cravings is the key to losing weight.

It helps a lot to know that these feelings and sensations are the result of simple learned behavior- they are not your body telling you it needs fuel. Your body can do just fine for at least three weeks with no food or supplements, just water. Really.

Rather, it is your brain telling you it wants you to keep on eating the way you always have. Your brain doesn’t want you to change. Its pathways are set. BUT…they can be changed over time.

You can unlearn these hunger craving reactions by simply sticking to the program- over time the feeling will attenuate and disappear. The first 3-4 days are the hardest.

Best thing to do would be a 9 hour eat “window” approach, where you eat from noon to nine PM- basically eating lunch and dinner- if you wish- and water-fasting the rest of the time.

Do it every day and you will get used to it relatively quickly and the cravings will disappear over time- give it at least three solid weeks of honestly following the program. In a year you won’t even want to eat breakfast.
