How did you get into fasting?

I’m not a novice by any means to fasting. I’ve been fasting for years intermittently but I’ve never completed a multi-day fast. The longest I’ve done is a little over 24-hours. I became interested in multi-day fasting because of a Tom Robbin’s novel called Jitterbug Perfume in which one of the main characters extends their life by completing a 5-day fast once a month (among other things). I became curious if that was possible and had no clue fasting for longevity was a real thing! I started my first 5-day fast Tuesday night and I’m well into my second day! Feeling some hunger pains and minor body weakness, but I’m hoping to get thru days 2 and 3 rather gracefully. I’d love to hear other stories!

I read the Obesity Code and have had insulin resistance as a part of PCOS for years. Thought I would give it a try. Lost 10lbs so far so that’s good. I’ve had issues with CICO in the past, and can’t stick to a diet like keto.

I’m only 5 hours in a 3 day fast, Also did it intermittently in the past. I hope to push 5 days after this one. I guess in the past it helped me a lot in several aspects of my life, I was happier, healthier and even people liked me more. So I thought I’d do it again.

I somehow stumbled upon a 3 day fast video on youtube, saw a bunch more, then tried it for myself. It was fun but I couldn’t quite do it consistently yet so I tried all kinds of things like ADF, rolling 3:1, an extended fast (made it 8 days), and now I’m finally ready to fast an entire month!

Answer

I got into fasting because i needed to lose weight, and i found this keto thing, so i started to watch some vids, read blogs about it, and in almost all of them they mentioned something about fasting in one way or the other.

Then after some time on “normal” keto, i started to feel less hungry, and i could skip breakfast most days easily, so i started to read more about fasting, tried it myself, and haven’t looked back ever since.
