How important is keeping the same schedule?

My work schedule fluctuates, and I also have been finding myself being okay with fasting longer hours. I was originally going to go with a 11 - 7 eating period, but is there much difference if some days are 12 - 5, 2 - 9, etc?

Answer

I’m pretty sure there are more people that have longer experience in IF than me, but I think that should be fine - as long as the actual fasting hours are kept.

Currently at month 14 for me and I’ve shifted my schedule about 2-3 times as there have been changes to my work, and life stuff.

Started out my IF with 5/19, eating only between 8am-1pm, shifted to 12-6pm, then 11am-5pm then right now I have it firmly set at 12-6pm again. Then I allow myself “cheat days” once or twice a week that basically I extend to 12pm-10pm. I have basically stopped looking at the scale but people do still keep telling me that I’m still getting thinner (which is more than enough reassurance for me).

It is so, absolutely, not important you would be amazed. In fact it is far superior to keeping a schedule your body and brain find easy to adapt to. Keep it guessing and you will be ready for anything. You are a master at adaptation if you keep switching it up, otherwise you will have a lazy body.

Answer

I keep the same schedule Sun-Thur, Fri I don’t eat till 12, no cut off, but then make sure I get 18hrs in before i eat Saturday, so usually around 4. No cut off saturday, same Sunday. I have to be done by 6pm Sunday though, so that usually winds being an Omad meal

Not sure this directly applies to your situation but this article from Jason Fung talks about how it’s better to shake up your schedule: https://blog.thefastingmethod.com/omad-should-you-eat-one-meal-a-day/#:\~:text=The%2030%2F16%20fast%20is%20how%20to%20do%20OMAD%20the%20right%20way&text=From%20dinner%20on%20Tuesday%20you,Saturdays%20you’d%20eat%20dinner.
