It depends on the person, the metabolism, and the entire scope of what the body is doing in a given day. Water weight will vary a lot day to day until you find a good water routine and intake. What type of food you ingest, bowel movements, it all has an impact on mass.
If I am going through a fasting phase where I dedicate myself fully to the fast, I can see the difference on the scale every morning. I will have days where I see a half a pound drop. If I am dehydrated and catching up on water, I might see a small gain. After a week, I typically see between 0.5% and 2% weight changes.
Dedicate to it, drink a lot of water to overcome the hard times and help the body to process fat cell usage, break fast gently with light, low calorie snacks or meals. Stick with it. Sometimes you break fast or miss your cycle, and you get screwed up… Just try again and again until you can stick the cycle for a few weeks/ months. The routine gets easier.
To see visually change in mirror, typically takes 2-4 months.
The trick that makes IF special, is to make the body think there is no need to go into starvation mode, even if total calories in is reduced.
The mechanism by which this is achieved, is keeping meals fairly large.
E.g. one meal of say 1000 cal would send a quite strong signal to the body that calorie expenditure should not be down-regulated (starvation mode), while two meals of 500 cal each, would not.
Working out does not play a key role in facilitating the weight loss from doing IF. Some even say losing weight is easier when reducing exercise a bit.
The 1000kcal is outdated and not effective. Minium calorie intake for females is 1200 and for man 1500. That said, I don’t know if you should do minium kcal or more. Calculate your TDEE and subtract 500. See where that’s take you.The obesity code by Jason Fung tells more about the ineffectiveness of a low kcal diet. It’s great that you decided to do IF! I’m doing it with CICO as well. Highly recommend!
It depends on how much you had to loose before starting. Generally, I’d give it three solid months minimum. And I wouldn’t measure my success based on a number on the scale. It’s better to have body measurements or the way your clothes fit as a way of measuring success.
