I started at the beginning of the pandemic, I do a chill IF, alternating from 16/8,18/6,14/4 !and sometimes 20/4. I don’t have a scale but I can wear clothes now that were too tight for me pre pandemic, plus with belts as a help. IF works in addition to calorie restriction, if you binge eating at your window then you won’t lose weight.
About 3 years now? I lost 60ish lbs in about 6 months and have kept it off about 2.5 years now.
No issues, just positives…sleep better, skin looks fab, more energy. Only re downfall is I’m so incredibly used to eating right at 12 (like my boss laughs at me that you could set the clock by how fast I get to the kitchen lol), I get super irritable if something (a meeting or whatever) holds me up lol
From what I understand losing a ton of weight can lead to gallstones no matter the method. Also I think high fat diets can contribute to gallstones as well and a ton of ppl on this sub do low carb/keto
I had gallstones and dramatic weight loss from illness (200lbs to 115lbs) way before i did keto\IF, but have not had any since (did not have gall bladder removed).
I have low and weak stomach acid so i take betaine HCL with pepsin, oxbile, as well as digestive enzymes with meals, and plan on getting some tudca to help with bile flow. I no longer take antacids also, so i doubt ill get more stones.
I have done IF as well as extended fasts off and on for 17 years, but my current duration of IF\keto(whole foods only) without breaks\failures is 3 months. I haven’t had much of a weight fluctuation but I wasn’t overweight by much to start this time and i have plateaued at 155lbs.
My doctor recommended low carb\sugar because im prediabetic. I had already experienced the benefits of fasting and i no longer wake up from terrible stomach pain, so health is my main motivation. I haven’t been back for blood work yet but plan on it fairly soon.
M/43 6’1 SW 240/CW 215/ GW…? 16/8 mostly. I’ve been going since Dec 2021, approximately 240 at the start…210-215 range now. My diet has improved quite a bit. It doesn’t seem like a lot but I look at pictures of myself from mid 2021 and I’m like…wow. A lot has changed.
3.5 years. 2 at a deficit. 1.5 at Maintenace. 220 to 155. No issues. Everything is better. I used to get acid reflux 2-3 times a week and can’t remember the last time I did. My post on my results in in my history if you want to check it out.
IF since mid may 2022. 243 to 214 by sept 25 About 10 lb per month GW is 190-195
basically stuck around 215 since sept
Just starting to get focus now again. Going to start running 2-4 times per week.
Would like to lose another 20 before mid May (year)
Just started last week so this is day 2 of my second week. Also started working out as well. I’ve found this sub super informative. Great book is ‘Fast, Feast,Repeat’ which was recommended by a wonderfully helpful Redditor!
Since 2/2/23. Today was my first day off from doing IF, I really wanted a cream cheese bagel at a meeting this morning so I just went for it. Total fasting hours was like 13 and some minutes. Tomorrow is another day. Starting weight 176 pounds, current weight is 168.7 pounds. Goal weight is 140 pounds to 145 pounds, want to do this to transform my physique for my 40th birthday this summer and dont wanna be looking like some BS.
