I’m IF + keto. Love it. It’s hard for me to lose weight due to my height and limited caloric intake if I want to be at a deficit. After I had kids, losing weight was a big struggle. IF is the only way I’ve been able to lose weight successfully without feeling like I’m starving.
I fast daily because it’s easy at work. The weekends are tougher with the hubby and kids. I hide IF from my family. My keto diet is already annoying to defend. I would never hear the end of it if they knew I did IF. Lay people think we are anorexic or starving ourselves.
I fast at least 4 day’s a week. Some weeks it’s consecutive, but I often mix it up!
I really enjoy fasting, it’s very freeing to remind myself that I don’t NEED to eat everyday. It’s totally re-evaluated my relationship with food.
I do 16:8 of 18:6 most days. Sometimes it stretches to 20:4 when life gets in the way, sometimes it’s a little less because it’s more convenient to eat sooner or because I crush a tough workout and feel ready to fuel up. I’m trying not to be to stringent about it but eat more intuitively and figure out what works with my life. I’m not trying to lose much weight, just have more energy when I don’t eat breakfast. I have a history of disordered eating so anything longer than 20:4 is trigger territory for me. I may do a longer fast if I go on retreat, but otherwise it’s important for me to eat something every day in order to maintain a healthy relationship with food.
I tend to fast during the week. I’ll do omad on Monday and Tuesday maybe and then fast from Wednesday to Saturday. And then refeed. But i have weight targets I like to hit so I don’t have a set time schedule. It’s all based on the scale. I give myself a weight goal which is within reach and when I hit it I refeed and then get back to fasting until I hit my next mini goal. I’ll do this until I hit final goal.
Once Im at maintenance I’ll eat and when I start gaining too much I’ll fast to get back to my ideal weight and I’ll probably do this for the long term. Much easier than trying to stick to 1200 calories eating three meals a day. I’ll probably eat 23:1 or omad.
