Hi xxfasting! I’d like to share my method of motivating myself, defeating cravings, and conquering the mental game. Feel free to use these if you’re a creative person and need a little extra push to reach your goals.
Roleplaying exercises that range from fun, to tough, to down-right morbid:
1. You are (insert favourite actress). You’re preparing for your new role in an upcoming action film and need to look your best when swinging from chandeliers and kicking ass. I’ve watched Tomb Raider a LOT.
2. You have brain parasites and the only way to survive is to finish this fast. So what’s more important, your life or that muffin?
3. You are the wise woman of a remote village and need to fast as it strengthens your connection with the spirits. You need the spirits guidance to end the famine that threatens your village. (That’s not the fridge calling your name.. that’s the evil spirits trying to dissuade you from fasting).
4. You live in an alternate universe where all foods are living sentient beings, which are afforded human rights. That’s right, eating that broccoli is now synonymous with murder!
These are just a few fun scenarios that I like to fall back on at 7:00 pm when my SO is frying something in the kitchen and tempting me. Come up with some of your own and don’t be afraid to try something different. It’s all about what works for you :)

i really appreciate the creativity involved in these and how none of them involve shaming your body and aren’t based in a self-loathing/unworthiness. negative reinforcement and self-image has been an unsuccessful tactic for me so i appreciate you flipping the perspective.

The best visualization I’ve heard is “putting your hunger notification on snooze.” So picture doing this over and over until mealtime.

I do something similar - I try to act the way I think I would act when I reach my goal weight. In my mind, future me is pretty damn good at fasting by that point, is completely in control of her cravings, and enjoys moving her body for the sake of moving her body. I couldn’t have gotten to goal without those things becoming second nature, so I just act like I already have all those habits.

I love the fact that I’m not the only person who does this hahah !My most common scenario is that I’m stranded on Mars or an island and I have to set up “camp” (do house hold cleaning), battle “attackers” (go to work) and forage/hunt for food (shopping/cooking) before I can eat.
