How to begin?

Hey guys, just warning you but this is going to be a long-ish post and any advice or help would be appreciated. For context I have ADHD so starting things is really really hard and that is what I am currently dealing with. I have wanted to start intermittent fasting for the longest. Have done the research and everything. The issue that I am mostly having is applying it to my schedule. That's where the advice would come in. I am going to post my schedule and if anyone could fill out how to add it to said schedule, it would be great and very helpful! I am also on the road and a pro wrestler so scheduling is hard. SCHEDULE Wake Up 7AM Get my child ready for school 7:30AM-8AM Take child to school 8:30AM (Free all this time) Pick child up from school 4:30PM Dinner 5-6 PM Wrestling Training 8:30PM-11PM (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) Sleep (Midnight.....hopefully)

Why not just start by only having dinner, because it looks like you have dinner at more or less the same time every day? Also, it’s easier, in my experience, to postpone eating, rather than having breakfast and then not eating afterwards.

While adjusting to intermittent fasting, I just try to push eating later and later. That’s something else you can do. Put it off as long as you can, and you will be able to go later and later until you get to the point where you break your fast at dinner.

Once you have consistently done this and are adjusted, you can see if you want to take on longer fasts. But I would take on one thing at a time. So, as I said, I would start by doing as best you can and just work on going longer every day or few days.

That’s just my 2 cents.

Well have you gone low carb/keto first? It generally helps as your body get used to transitioning to ketosis faster, which makes the fasting easier. Next to consider is what your goals are with the intermittent fasting as the more prolonged ones will get you into autophagy so deeper healing or general weight maintenance.

I started slowly with 8 hours and then just kept pushing it longer and longer with my longest fast being 20 days water fasted. You really have to gauge how your body reacts to it so I’d ease o to it first with the lower carb diet (meat and veggies focused and berries as a fruit option).

Try low carb for 2 weeks, then skip breakfast for 5 days then skip breakfast and lunch for 5 days and so on and so forth. Keep your electrolytes handy given your workout regime. Maybe fast on the days that you don’t do your wrestling schedule. I still lifted weights and jogged 10 miles a day while fully fasted.

16-8 was a good schedule for me (16 hrs fasting, 8 hrs available to eat). I’m sure you’d like to eat with your family in the evening, so you could start your eating window 8 hrs before you normally end eating. So if you’re done at 6pm, you would/could start at 10am. You could get more aggressive with that if you want after you get used to it. But it eating in only an 8 hr window at first feels pretty challenging at first!
