To the best of my knowledge, diarrhea is not refeed syndrome.
What you are experiencing is from dropping a bunch of material into a biome with mostly dead or dying bacteria.
Body just dumps it.
Better to have something like yogurt (carbs though) or - I used to drink vegetable juice (still carbs) - some people like cucumber slices - two or three hours before eating anything significant.
Even then - you can’t trust a fart and it’s likely you’ll need the restroom.
These days - I just accept what’s coming - eat my zero carb tiny reefeed after coming home for the day and no plans to do anything later.
Good luck.
Start slow, I like Coles protocol for dryfast refeeding for refeeds after longer wet fasts too.
1l of coconut water over a few hours, then some fresh cucumber with salt over a few hours, then something easier like 2-3 eggs a few hours after the cucumber and then slowly ease into a full meal after that. Rule of thumb: The more its processed the worse it is for your digestive system. But dont eat a bunch of raw shit, this can go sideways too.
I did my first 5 day fast last week and was worried about this as I sometimes have problems with my intermittent fast. In the past if I stop IF for a week I have bad diarrhea and distress when I get back on it. When I broke my 5 day It was at night I had chicken bone broth with some added chicken bullion cube. Did the same the next morning. And then went to breakfast and had just plain scrambled eggs and sausage links.I was surprised I had no G.I. distress at all. I am by no means experienced in longer fasting. I am starting a four-day fast tonight. During my fast I drank coffee black, water, diet pop, and I made a version of the snack juice and took magnesium citrate supplements. Not sure if any of this made a difference. Will see if the same plan works this time. I think you have to figure out what works for you. If you are doing rolling fast you likely can’t do a slow refeed.
Good luck I hope it gets better
I think electrolytes are a good idea re: 72 hour fasts, esp if rolling. That said, try some bone broth with salt an hour or 2 before eating to kind of wake up your digestive system. What you ate was a lot of protein and fat all at once.
Same exact thing happens to me, as most others. I’ve just come to accept it. You’re just gonna have to accept washroom is a must within 1 to 2 hours. I’d recommend adjusting your refeed time to a “safe” window.I work afternoons, and had the same issue. Would refeed for lunch around 12 and then nasty washroom visits at work. So now I’ve adjusted to do my refeed first thing in the morning, about 8 to 9. This way I’m still safe and can not worry about crapping myself at work. If you work days like most normal people, I’d recommend your refeed to be after work, and make sure you’re okay for at least a 2 hour washroom window 🤷♂️
