How would someone become lean and not bulky?

Basically, I’m 5’8 and I’m 159 lbs and have a beer belly sorta. My belly pokes out whenever I wear a T shirt and it made me just really insecure and wanting something to change. I also noticed my face was starting to get fat as well. The thing is I want to be lean instead of bulky b/c I noticed whenever short/smaller guys become bulky they tend to look smaller and I don’t like that. I tried to go on a calorie deficit diet but I just have trouble having self control when it comes to not eating and i’m not sure how to fix it. One thing that worked for me was developing a workout routine along with meal prepping:

1 hour every other day in the gym,Take in more protein and less carbs in your meals,Drink plenty of water,Ditch a lot of the snack foods or consume in moderation (up to 100 cal/day)

You need to get in the gym. Cut the excess garbage carbs, add more protein, less weight more reps with a good amount of cardio.

No you won’t get bulky your body will start recompose and tone out. I’m 5’10 and went from 250 to 175 without lifting or really exercising and I was skinny fat. I started lifting and eating properly and now I’m 200 lbs and I look so much better. Don’t pay attention to the scale pay attention to how you look and feel in clothes.

Also I wouldn’t look at stars as somebody to hold your average to. They have personal chefs and trainers that most people don’t have access to. I would find some progress pics of some one in this sub that you like and read what they did. That’s what helped me. Good luck!
