i f'd badly

Hey guys, I hope you're all doing well. my reason for writing. Just so you know, I began keto on August 20, 2022. Today's date is 10/Sep/2022, roughly 30 days ago. I dropped probably at least 24 lbs., 12 kg. I began at 275 and am currently at 251. At school, my girlfriends and I had a Halloween-themed party. I follow keto. I'm unable to consume anything they brought. They were demanding that I should eat. I replied, "No, I can't. I'm allergic to both these meals and chocolates." They shoved the food in my mouth. They waited until they were certain that I had eaten it before leaving. I am no longer in ketosis. what am I supposed to do? How am I able to enter ketosis once more?

Answer

Honestly I am more worried about the friends. What kind of “friend” would treat you that way? Force you to do something after you told them you were allergic (is that true?)

You can get back in ketosis I’m sure, but you are worth more than these friendships are. Time to build relationships with people who will respect you and your choices.

Answer

You carry on and get right back on your eating plan. And find new friends, the current ones sound awful.

I would have spit that food out of my mouth and into their faces. What kind of people do what they did?

Answer

don’t worry about it, if you feel very hungry carb cravings, allow yourself a bit of a low-carb window, some rice or sweet potatoes/reboiled red potatoes will help soften the transition if they force-fed you high-glucemic stuff (sweets etc),otherwise just go back to your keto diet style and your body will get back in ketosis within less than 2 days, probably less than 1 since you’re already adapted quite a bit, if you’ve been as strict as you make it sound.

Carb windows are fairly common for many people who practice keto long term, it’s an easy way to manage coasting around your GW, and it’s also a great way to include a more balanced omnivore diet with the occasional carb load every week or two. Doing it once a month when you’re in early phases of losing weight is absolutely nothing critical - a bit of IF will help bring ketosis back but the longer you go, the more seemless it will be and when you carb load you’ll barely feel cravings for a couple hours the following morning until your body is back in keto.

Also, serious congratulations on your initial achievements! Don’t take it too hard, 12kg in a month is still comfortable but you don’t want to strain your body by losing weight too fast. Don’t worry and enjoy your progress!

Answer

Congratulations on the progress you’ve made, that’s amazing. I’m so sorry you were force-fed.

It’s been a few years since I did keto so I won’t advise you on that, but for the fasting, I would just make sure I eat consciously and healthy foods until my next fasting window.

It’s just a speed bump, you’ll be back at it in no time.
