I just want to lose weight 😩

I’ve started an IF eating schedule of five days fasting 2 days eating, I’ve been losing weight very consistently and slow enough that I don’t think I am impacting my health, my energy is amazing way more than when I was carb stuffing 24/7 and I feel like my mental health has never been better. Problem is all my friends tell me I have an eating disorder and I’m going to hospitalise myself and I’m not gonna lose weight and I’m just punishing myself, I really don’t feel like this though and tbh the only time I feel crap these days are when I get another god damn ear beating about this shit. What do you guys say when you hear this stuff?

It sounds like you have found a solution that works for YOU. Congrats! As for the muggles, there is an old saying. First rule of fasting is don’t talk about fasting. Aside from that, you can get snarky and ask them how their weight loss plan is working, or…., ask them to do some research and come back and talk to you after they have.

How much weight are you trying to lose? Do you mind sharing your stats (height, SW/CW/GW)?

The best luck I’ve had with getting people off my back is talking about keto first. Everyone has at least heard about keto. I talk about what ketosis is and how fasting puts me into ketosis. I talk about the health benefits of fasting and thenI bring up Dr. Jason Fung and encourage them to look at his content. In the end, there isn’t much you can do to change someone’s opinion. You can only change yourself. Find a fasting schedule that you can stick to that doesn’t negatively impact life and ignore the haters.

I’d shake it up every now and again, eat normally for a week (maybe 1 out of every 4-5) then return to your 5:2 so long as you have significant excess body fat to work through. So long as you are supplementing during your fast, staying active (lightly working out), staying hydrated, and not feeling any ill effects, I think you have a good plan.

If it works for you then rock on. Weight loss is about finding what works best for you. Make sure you are taking a multivitamin and listening to your body. You may need some electrolyte replacement towards the end of your fasting window. If you have a physical job then probably more often. I am currently doing rolling 6 day fasts. It’s very doable. I feel 1000% better. It really helps keeping a low carb diet when you do eat. I find if I eat carbs on my eating day I spend the first 3 days of my fasting window shedding the water weight from the carbs. Any questions feel free to ask.

Well, good partabout it is that You don’t have to listen to your friends , and you don’t have to follow their lead. Do you why are you sweating what they say? As for people saying not to talk about it… why not? Say it loud say it proud. As long as it keeps being something we hide is gonna remain taboo. Time to start setting examples.

Ah, ppl don’t understand fasting.

My only piece of advice, I see ppl try the longer fasts to lose weight, because it Let’s them avoid dealing with the real issue of fixing their eating habits. So, they lose bunches of weight fasting, then regain it all when they stop.

At some point, you’ll have to face your daily eating plan and perhaps pick some sort of maintenance fasting window ? 16:8 ? To follow with healthy eating.
