I'm just here to whine...

I had to start a course of prednisone for my asthma today. If you have ever been on it for any amount of time you know that among other things, it makes you absolutely ravenous. I'm taking Adderall for ADHD (as always) so that seems to be dampening my appetite a bit - or maybe the 'roids just haven't kicked in yet. But still! I haven't been stuffing myself (yet) but I haven't stuck to my fast either AND I ate the first carbs I've consumed in weeks - toast with jelly. If I need to continue the prednisone, this will get harder and if I have to do more than a three day course, ALL IS LOST! Or more accurately, gained! That's all. I'm (mostly) glad that lifesaving drugs exist and have a pretty good attitude about the side effects but not a perfect attitude about them. Ok, actually, I'm kind of discouraged.

Answer

All is not lost in three days. Perfection isn’t required for success. This is just a bump in the road, not a cliff.

I’m currently having to do a six-day course of methylprednisolone for a lingering sinus infection. Since my doctor specifically said to take it with food or milk, I’m taking each pill with an 8-oz glass of whole milk, and otherwise sticking to my usual OMAD. Yes, the milk breaks my fast. No, it’s not going to cause me to instantly regain all the weight I’ve lost.

I hope your asthma gets better soon!

Answer

I found IF to be helpful when taking prednisone. Not perfect but helpful. I also thought going low carb-keto helped but I am a sugar fiend so when stressed I prefer sugar, carbs and sugar.

Prednisone is a stressor for my body and I hate it too.
