So glad to hear you are feeling better and committed to prioritizing your health! I had a health scare too a couple of years ago that really shook me up and set me on a healthier path. I think it helps to have goals and a focus other than weight loss - especially if you don’t always see those numbers dropping as quickly as you’d like. Focus on those non-scale victories: getting off medication one at a time, each day you don’t turn to alcohol, better sleep, improved energy, etc.
So happy for you, and cheering you on!
So glad you are improving your health. I would recommend checking out Dr Dean Ornish and his program. He has been helping people with your health issues fir 40 years. His program is also 100 percent reimbursable with Medicare. The results are unbelievable. Good luck to you.
Well, I will say as someone who has greatly curtailed my drinking the last few years. Taking a year off booze was one of the best things I ever did. I don’t feel the same need or pull of a drink now. I enjoy trying a new beer or spirit with friends, or a cocktail with dinner, etc but I dont do it out of habit now. IF can be great in the same way with unhealthy food habits. I also would always recommend adding 10k steps a day (especially in nature if feasible), if you arent already.
Glad you are on the mend. IF is a health plan with the side effect of losing weight.
Also recommend a book called This Naked Mind. You could probably e-borrow it from your local library. It might help you rethink your relationship with alcohol in a reasonable and logical way.
If you haven’t read Dr. Fung’s Diabetic Code, check that out as well.
Glad you got this wake-up call. Wishing you the very best.
If you’re prediabetic you should really consider doing exercise! People who are diabetic build up a resistance to insuline, which is a hormone that regulates your sugar levels. Exercise stimulates the uptake of sugar from the blood to the cells. It helps with insuline resistance. It will be a great addition to your dieting.
