I've finally had it with my health. Joining in on IF

I got prescribed a beta blocker and cholesterol med today. It runs in my family. Yes I'm obese. I had a huge wake up call today. For too long I have been self pittying myself and saying I'll do it tomorrow. I have read that IF has so many benefits healthwise. I'm thinking I'll eat light at my 2am lunch. Like a yogurt and cheese stick. Then when I come home eat some kind of protein and veggies. To start a 12:12 sounds good. If I go longer even better. The Dr wants me under 60 carbs a day. I'm thinking that with IF it should be easier. If you read all this I appreciate it. I've also got to get more active. I'm looking forward to this journey. If anyone has any tips tricks or advice I'd appreciate reading them.

The best advice I can give you is just start. Whatever it is.

No need for talk or think about it or know all the answers just commit to something and do it.

The easiest for most folks is a eating window of 12-8 I’d also recommend you walk EVERYDAY for one hour. If you do this in 30 days you’ll be a a whole new person.

Yes just get started, don’t overthink it. Use this fasting app called “life” (free version) I got twice as motivated to do fasting when I saw a running timer. I went from 16:8 to 20:4 in a matter of couple weeks. In a month you would have lost decent weight and you will have less appetite overall. So it will be way easier to stick with it long term.

You will absolutely lose weight on IF. I did and I was amazed at how effective it is! Once you set your mind to it I know you will be successful. Maybe go through your foods already in the house and start culling them. Then stock your fridge with healthy veggies. Low sugar yogurt or even plain. Some good nuts. To a skinnier you!

This sounds far too restrictive. Look up the Intermittent Fasting playlist on The Daily Connoisseur’s YouTube. She has 30+ videos with doctors, q&as, and many what I eat in a day videos. IF is a wonderful and natural lifestyle that can and should include enjoyable and nourishing foods so you can gain amazing results and maintain it.

You’ll most likely battle going from where you are to 60g of carbs a day. That’s a crazy low amount for most people. Health and fitness is about consistency over time. People generally have more success making small changes. Fasting is a big change on its own. Coupled with a drastic change in diet it’s going to be a shock and you’ll have to fight through it.

I’d work on cutting out the main culprits from your diet and slowly making better choices. I’m vegan so my diet is naturally high in carbs but my carbs come from fresh whole fruits and veg. I don’t eat bread, rice or pasta. Mainly because I don’t really enjoy them.

I think 12:12 is a great place to start and you’ll see positive results. Many people recommend a 12 hour break to see positive health results.

The self pity trap is a hard one to get out of. It does seem so unfair that things are easier for everyone else. The reality is that they’re not. We all start somewhere. You can totally get the results you want. I think the “secret” is accepting that it will be hard and then just pushing through the hard parts. Good luck!

One tip that helped me in the beginning, is to put everything you eat in the freezer. I used to semi-unconciously do snacks while fasting. It will take effort and time to defrost, so I only did it for important meals
