My last calories consumed was at 8:00pm CST, Sunday 2022/Jan/9th.
I started by completely eliminating caffeine (drinking exclusively plain water) a week prior (started on Jan/3) so all the discomfort and headaches were out of the way before I started the water-only fast.
The day I started, I read [the entire electrolytes post for this forum](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/wiki/fasting_in_a_nutshell/you_need_electrolytes). That was awesome. I already had Sodium (salt) and 300mg Magnesium tablets. I ordered Potassium Chloride on Amazon and had it the next morning.
My pattern first thing in the morning is to get half a glass of water, mix in 1 tsp of sodium and 1tsp of potassium, and then drink it all at once. I know that the recommendation is to sip it over a couple of hours. I just haven't been able to structure that yet. I will eventually.
My pattern in the evening right before going to bed is, again, to get half a glass of water, mix in 1 tsp of sodium and 1tsp of potassium, and then drink it all at once. And then take one magnesium tablet.
I do a 20-30m HIIT workout every morning, M-F. On Saturday, I go for a walk with my [XPO Sled](https://www.armoredfitness.com/products/xpo-trainer-2) doing 300m on/300m off walking for three iterations. On Sunday, I go for a 2m walk with an average pace of a 20-minute mile.
At 5'11", my starting body fat percentage was 30.3% and my weight was 225.9 lbs. To manage my OCD, I only measure on Sunday evenings. My measurements from last Sunday, Jan/16th was ???/213.3. I didn't get body fat percentage as my scale didn't recognize me with such a large weight discrepancy.
To manage my motivation, I knew I needed to manage my expectations around my weight loss versus my fat loss. So, the 12.6lbs I lost in the first week is actually composed of several losses; inflammation, emptying the intestines, and actual burned body fat.
Inflammation is largely water and likely accounts for at least 4lbs. The intestines likely had around 4-5lbs of food mass. And given my age/weight/gender, my resting metabolic rate is \~2,000 calories which means in the 7 days, I burned around \~15,000 calories (the extra 1, 000 calories is a conservative estimate from working out). Dividing the calories by the 3,500 calories in a pound of body fat means I lost around 4.25lbs +/-0.5lbs of actual body fat.
Once I get my measurement from this Sunday night (which will put me at 66% of my fast), I will be able to converge on a better number regarding my actual body fat loss per week (and per day). Obviously, the +/-2.0lbs of variation caused by daily hydration fluctuations means I can only get so close to knowing an accurate daily body fat burn rate.
In the past, when I have water-only fasted, days 2 and 3 were pretty uncomfortable. Not this time. It was a cakewalk. It appears that most of the discomfort in prior fasts was because I was also going off of caffeine cold (and into caffeine withdrawal) at the start of the fast.
I hadn't gone off of carbs prior and was concerned about "keto flu" in the first week. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. That might be because I practiced doing OMAD on Tue/Thu/Sat/Sun and food fasting on M/W/F early last year. I think that helped my body develop a very rapid transition from burning sugar to ketosis basically eliminating the pains associated with the "keto flu".
I have had a couple of less than 2 hour periods where I didn't feel quite right. Nothing terrible. Just uncomfortable and off. They passed quickly. As long as it stays this easy, my anxiety about not making it the full 21 days has abated!
This is just the opening to my physical longevity plans around fasting. My target is to have a sustained body fat percentage below 20% and a weight below 200lbs.
I'm curious what others have done similar to what I am doing.

Did you measure arms, waist circumference, etc? Some of the weight you loose in fat might turn into muscle, so consider measure yourself if you haven’t done it.
Congrats on the efforts, sounds like you’re getting there faster than you thought.

Awesome I started a 21 day water fast too around the same time although I didn’t eat on Sunday the 9th which I consider the first day so I don’t plan to eat until January 31st. I have been doing this annually every January 9th-30th since 2020.
FYI I did a little research online and found some pretty convincing evidence those body fat percentage scales don’t really work at all (see link below source 1), which lines up with my personal experience. They aren’t accurate, precise, or consistent; basically they are useless as far as I am concerned for all intents and purposes. When water fasting you can figure you are probably going to burn a little less than half a pound of fat per day (see link below source 2).

Are there any guided meditations/affirmations that I can just passively listen to for healing? I’m too exhausted to do any “active” healing work.I actually have a recommendation. It’s a YouTube channel that has just what you are looking for, and i am hopeful that it will help you.
