Hi everyone, what I’m about to say goes against intuition but has anyone found IF leads to quicker recovery for them?
I pulled my back 2 days ago, to the point I couldn’t bear weight without wincing. Happens semi regularly and I have a back brace that i wear to make day to day life bearable, whilst also stretching, staying mobile without the brace where I can, and taking ibuprofen.
Well yesterday I did my normal stretches and could stretch a lot further than normal after I tweak my back, and walking around wasn’t causing me any pain.
This morning the pain is basically gone…
This would normally be a 2-4 week ordeal for me, the only adjustments I’ve made to my lifestyle since last time are IF and more cardio (note I was still in the gym 3x a week last time, just now I’m hitting cardio as well)
Perhaps I just got lucky but I feel like IF had some part to play.
Answer
This is wonderful to hear! So glad you’ve gotten relief. Yes, I’m familiar with what appear to be healing benefits of IF and fasting. Recently finished a book titled “The Oldest Cure on the World,” and it includes numerous stories of doctors and other healers who fasted patients who then had miraculous cures. TrueNorth Health Center in Santa Clara, CA, offers similar programs, and then of course there’s Dr. Fung’s clinic in Toronto. For myself, I notice pain from various degenerative conditions in my spine fades at about the 16-hour mark into fasting.

I am so glad it worked for you! IF was the only thing that really helped my recurrent cerebrospinal fluid leak to stay shut. I found that a 40 hour fast was enough to really make a difference. I think it is the increase in human growth hormone and the reduction in inflammation.
