I personally couldn’t. Not eating enough steadily throughout the day really messed with my supply. Doesn’t mean it can’t work for you but I’d wait until your supply is established before you test it out.
I do it. My daughter is 11 months and I’ve been doing IF for a while. My observations:
absolutely couldn’t do it immediately post partum. I was starving and wanted to listen to my body.
it absolutely affects my milk supply. I notice a significant difference on days that I eat early and days I fast. I overproduce so it wasn’t an issue for me. I knew I overproduced going in as she was my second baby.
with BFing I am way more sensitive to my hormone levels still and cant fast past noon the week before my period cause I get absolutely famished.
Thanks! For the last 2 kids I had an oversupply issue, so once I get the initial milk supply established, maybe an eating window will help control that (it was so bad I would get mastitis if I didn’t pump 30+ minutes or pump after feeding.)
I did 24 hour fasts and omad a few days a week when baby was around that age. She still nursed a ton and I made sure I drank a lot of water and had no issues with supply. I lost most of my baby weight in 3 months.
