No, I tried 16:8 IF around the year 2 of BF and it affected the whole process. No way I’d try that during the infancy stage.
Although 12:12 MIGHT be feasible, the reality is for the first 6 weeks or so there really is no schedule with a newborn. you might be awake all through your fasting window or sleeping (or otherwise nap trapped) during the eating window.
Speaking from experience, what would have helped me lose or at least not gain would be assistance with healthy meals and grocery shopping. I literally couldn’t cook or prep food and my husband was working FT, just as the pandemic hit so my fam couldn’t come and help. hence frozen pizzas and processed food. In retrospect a healthy meal prep/delivery service would have been a godsend.
I wouldn’t do it in the early days for sure. I’m nursing now but my daughter is 2 so it’s not like she needs a lot of milk. You could try and aww how it goes, but once your supplydips it can be hard to get it back up
Ruined my milk supply on baby #3 😭 I believe I wasn’t eating enough, but I don’t have any records from the time to share. I was so excited to be losing weight faster than with the first two, but the impact on my supply was definitely not worth it. I was able to regain some of my supply with lots of fenugreek, bfeeding and pumping, but it was a good month of stress and exhaustion.
Wishing you the very best with the baby!
I did a mild IF every other day. You can get REALLY hungry with breastfeeding because you’re just shooting calories out of your boobs. My IF was basically staying out of the fridge between 9 pm and 6 am.
I did IF every day for 3 years prepregnancy so it was basically lifestyle by that point. Twin pregnancy was rough and I wanted to lose the weight. Breastfeeding was hard and I was hungry alot, no way I could have done IF. I’d eat 4 slices of toast every morning during the 2am pump. I tried 3 times last year to get back on the IF train but each lasted less than a month as life and mental health just weren’t there. Got back on in January when they were 14 months and 8kg down. Still 8 more to go but currently my lightest weight since getting pregnant. Give yourself some grace and just see how it goes. Good luck with your baby
It’s working for me. Started keto/IF at 6 weeks postpartum, currently back to my pre pregnancy weight with baby 3mo old. I pump so I see that my supply has not dropped. Baby’s growth curve is normal and he is healthy. I don’t know if I’m an exception. Eating 1400 calories on average.
