Im new here and was curious if any of you out there are chronic migraine sufferers, and how you get around these monsters from triggering during IF? I started small with 16:8, but if I push it to 20:4 my brains no likey and I get a migraine ( not a headache, full on nausea, light/sound sensitivity, localized eyeball pain among other wonders of the migraine). As a result, I fall off the IF wagon for a few days. And try again. This is consistent so I know it’s not my usual hormonal migraines. Looking for advice for people in the same boat. Thank you!
Answer
Low carb diet might help. I have noticed that I have harder time to fast longer if my last meal was carb heavy. Body has harder time to switch to burning ketones from glucose.
Also agree that switch to 20:4 gradually from 16:8. If everything fails, still stick to 16:8. It still better than not fasting at all.
Answer
Do you normally suffer from migraines?
If not, take electrolytes and drink a lot more water during your fast.
If yes, it won’t hurt to do that anyway, but also stick with 16:8 or 17:7/18:6 and see if that helps, and talk to your doctor.
