IF while underweight, but it helps with EVERYTHING else! Thoughts?

I'm only making a new thread bc "underweight" posts rarely clarify that IF is helping them with other issues; it usually seems to be a curiosity inquiry. Thoughts on this? Experience? Warnings? Tactics to be mindful? I'm 6'7", 162 lbs, struggled w gaining weight my whole life. At 20 yrs old I was 198 lbs. Even though I eat incredibly well (high calories, high quality, no processed sugar), I struggle with chronic issues, often making it difficult to consume the calories. I also can't consume caffeine at all. Only two things that have helped: Trauma work, and IF. IF has been a godsend for my: - Major Inflammation - Bloating - Constipation - Loose Stools - Brain Fog - Low energy But sometimes WITHIN A 24 HR PERIOD, I'll feel weak. I wonder if I'm missing anything? Thanks for your insight.

Answer

You should probably get together with a Dietitian to come up with a plan that can accommodate intermittent fasting and a healthy diet. What you are doing now is clearly not sustainable and not healthy.

Do you get enough electrolytes? You probably don’t have much margin before you start feeling the effects, so if this seems like a possibility, I’d try adding a supplemental drink and some extra magnesium in there somewhere. r/keto should have a recipe on their community info that uses only salts, no artificial sweeteners or anything.
