Interested in IF, just unsure about how to go about it.

IF is something I’d like to have more knowledge about, I’m 40, male, 155KG, about 6 years ago I had a gastric bypass & lost 47KG, went back to my old habits when driving trucks though, long hours on your arse eating & mainly drinking the wrong stuff. No longer driving, have had some issues with my heart, not working at the moment due to that, also have BSL lows from time to time. I don’t eat much, 1 or 2 meals a day, no breakfast, maybe lunch, definitely dinner, don’t drink as much iced coffee as I used to, it was a major issue, I now just make my own, 1 tea spoon of coffee, 1 tea spoon of sugar & low fat milk, but my issue is Coke, I love it, yes I know how bad it is, but I guess you could say it’s my drug, I hate water, the taste of it, I don’t mind soda water. Thing is I need to sort my health out, I need to get back working, back to a social life. Really looking for some info, help, suggestions, just don’t know how to go about this. I’ve lost weight before but I’ve been in a better head space also back then, now I have quite bad depression, a little anxiety, low confidence & self esteem, I want to get back to myself again, I just need that button pushed in my head to get things kicking again. I used to run 3 days a week, now I can’t even run half a lap of a sports oval. Really unsure about posting this also, I’m quite embarrassed & ashamed of myself to let myself get back to where I am again.

If you’re wanting to improve and follow IF you’re going to need to get past your crutches. Sugar is a poison, wean yourself off of it. Water is good for you, drink plenty of it. Abd restrict your eating into a small window. I strongly recommend stopping your eating early in the evening.

I liked IF because I could eat what I liked as long as I followed the time restrictions. And my eating habits changed as I progressed. But I came into it liking water and I don’t eat tons of sugar. I do like a Coke Zero or a Diet Dr Pepper once in a while.

Best of luck!

Watch intermittent fasting videos from Dr Eric Berg DC on YouTube. Very motivating and so many helpful tips! Also it helped me to realize if I want to be healthy and feel healthy the only way is to eat healthy natural foods! Makes sense. Prioritizing that nutrient intake but not cutting out foods I love is my only way to ever not give up and binge. That mental attitude that doesn’t feel restricting is so good. And lastly, just start! You’ll never get in the cold pool if you walk in slowly. Just jump in and feel the water! If it’s too cold u can always get out.

Sandman, just by recognizing the issues, you’ve taken a very important step! You are getting to your “Why”…and when a person has a powerful “why”, that will provide huge movement to the desired results.

Now, about that soda pop…that processed sugar is probably more addicting & dangerous than fentanyl! May I suggest you move toward tapering off by limiting yourself how much you consume?

Regarding water…so important for success. There are ways to spruce it up…add some muddled mint or find a tea that is palatable to you.

You got this…I believe in you & your ultimate success!
