Interested in peoples experiences with drugs and fasting…

I’m not really talking the illicit stuff although I’d be intrigued if anyone has anything along those lines. But people who take medication for mental illnesses or other ailments, do you find it harder as your appetite increases or the opposite and what medication is it you’re on? Obviously very broad question as each medication will have different side effects but it just intrigues me, and I’ve been off my meds for a while now but I really need to start up again but they increase appetite so it makes fasting so much harder.

I’m on a medication to lower prolactin. Initially I got bad nausea with it but now that’s turned into a vague revulsion towards a lot of foods I used to like. It’s honestly a little problematic trying to keep up on protein, and sometimes I eat pretty random stuff trying to get enough calories in. I do still feel hunger though, so I don’t hugely recommend the experience because it can be rather unpleasant to want/need to eat but not like the idea of actually consuming most things. It’s kind of like being very depressed in one highly specific aspect of life.

My doctors tell me my medicines gave me metabolic syndrome and made me fat, so I assume they probably increased my appetite but it’s hard to tell between binge eating disorder, messed up hormones and everything else in play. The psych meds I’m on are prolixin, trileptal, buspar and luvox. I’m doing pretty well with IF, although the first month was hard. If my psych meds increase my appetite I am probably just more hungry in my window (OMAD) but my body still adjusted to not have much appetite outside my window.

Other drugs, I make sure I eat something before I drink alcohol and I don’t think I’ve smoked marijuana deep into a fast.

I am on Xanax and have been for a decade at least and in my experience with fasting, I haven’t noticed anything but this is purely anecdotal. I’m not doing any consistent fast currently except doing one thru to 4 pm tomorrow for medical labs.

I just started, and I take a lot of medication for MS. The only thing I’m worried about is having to take painkillers on a day when I’m fasting, but figure I’ll just skip that day.

For the other medication, on fast days seems like the sleeping pills are 100% more effective. A very positive thing LOL.
