Hello everyone. I am new to the idea of IF, I've heard of it before, but haven't really considered trying it myself. However, I've found myself frustrated by my lack of willpower and need some more structure to my diet to help me lose weight. So I want to try out the 16:8 method first.
However, as the title suggests, I have vasovagal syncope. For those unaware, this is a condition where the vagal nerve is triggered when it shouldn't be, causing the body to drop blood pressure and open blood vessels and leads to fainting. If you've ever heard of people fainting at the sight of blood, that's a vasovagal response. I, fortunately, am not triggered by blood, but I have almost fainted after exercising and have fainted in response to pain and other physiological stress. I finally saw a cardiologist about it last year and aside from recommending I double my salt intake and drink a lot of water, he did not suggest any lifestyle changes or medications for it.
So, while I intend to give it a try anyway, my concern is that fasting may aggravate my vasovagal syncope, but was hoping there might be others here with the condition that could weigh in on whether it's been an issue. I appreciate any and all input.

I’ve been suffering from some POTS-like symptoms post-covid, which is a whole other story but might be relevant to your situation.
I’d second the recommendation for higher electrolyte/ salt intake, especially while fasting. Also making sure to keep blood sugar steady, so try not to have too much refined sugar/ grains when you do eat.
And finally, take it easy if your body needs to eat, just eat, don’t push too hard. I used to do OMAD every day. The past year, I still do occasionally but most days I’m breaking fast around noon. Better to do a 16/8 for a day instead of pushing and getting yourself in a bad situation.
Hope this helps & good luck!

Have a look on you tube for interviews with a Dr that wrote a book on salt, it’s called the salt fix! very interesting info that will help!
I would also suggest doing keto with fastings as it makes it much easier!
Dr Berg & Gerry Fung have been my go to’s but there are many more.
Good luck with your new journey!
