I lost 21 pounds my first month, so it definitely happens. But it’s the first month, probably half of that is water weight and inflammation. Don’t’ stress about it, it will slow down quickly. Right now it’s looking like my 2nd month will be more like \~10 pounds loss, so that’s already half the speed of the first month.
General advice is no faster than 2lbs / week except supervised by a dietitian. You didn’t share sex or height but it also seems like your weight is low enough that it seems a bit aggressive of a target to me. I know people that are carrying a ton of excess fat can more safely target faster loss, but it seems to me like you may be in a range that 20lbs a month (4 lbs a week) is an overly aggressive target.
That said if you’re just starting working out or just started OMAD you may have also lost a bit of water or something like that.
I would say target a 1000 cal deficit and go from there. I’m not a professional or anything like that though, this is just my 2 cents.
You don’t give your age or your height or your gender, but I’ll guess based on your starting weight and goal weight and early success that you are a 6 foot man near 30.
The group here that (seems to) reap the most success is tall men.
The best amplifiers of success in order are #1: calorie counting to verify deficit and #2 vigorous exercise.
So if my guesses are correct, you have simply slid directly into the weight loss fast lane.
Don’t worry about that 20 that’s gone. Focus on the 24 more. And when you get there, then refocus on how to stay there
Depends on how big you are. If you are morbidly obese, it’s not too much. Bigger people lose more weight faster. If you aren’t obese, I would say that’s too much. You’re prob starving yourself and it is unsustainable.
If you start with a lot of excess fat and you throw in consistent weight training, I can imagine you’d lose quite a bit at the beginning. I guess it depends on how “fit” you were. It has taken me 6 months to lose 20 pounds, but I did not technically start out as “overweight,” I was just a little out of shape and bigger than that which I was accustomed. You’ll plateau at some point and will just need to keep your body guessing with different workouts and maybe extending fasting windows. Bravo!
