Is consistency better?

I've been playing about with IF, doing a combination of 18:6, 20:4 and im thinking if doing a 24 hour fast today. I sort of play it by ear depending on my level of activity and how I'm feeling on each day. My question is, will this help, hinder or make no impact on my weight loss journey? 16:8 would be the shortest fast I would do, 24 hours will be my maximum. Thanks!

According to “Fast, Feast, Repeat” mix and matching IF schedules is a good way to go since your body can get too used to one way of eating and plateau if you don’t. It seems like you are listening to what your body needs. In many of the IF success stories on here you will see that they didn’t stick to one schedule, but changed as needed. Most will say they do a 18:6 often and throw in a 20:4 or OMAD weekly.

I haven’t followed a set pattern at all and I’m losing weight. I fast anywhere from 16-20+ hours daily with an occasional 24-36 hour mixed in. Sometimes I fast through breakfast, other times I fast at dinner. Some days I only eat once because it was late evening when I finally had a chance to feed my face.

Play around with it and find out what works best for you because IF isn’t a one size fits all.

Go for it! The only way a 24 hour fast would hurt progress is if you binge ate after you completed the fast. If you eat normally, it only helps as it gives your body longer to use your existing body fast as fuel.

I try to get at least one 36-48 hour fast in per month as I think there are autophagy benefits as well as giving your digestive system a day or two of rest.

I find that sticking to a schedule is actually hard and distracting, because your body is trying to expect food, even if it’s not true hunger… Yesterday I fully expected to eat my regular 12-1500 daily calories but I could only eat one plate!

I think my stomach is feeling the need to be smaller? After a month of IF now maybe

So last night I only ate 1 meal around 800kc and I didn’t even feel hungry after my window closed at 7:30pm I seemed to sleep just fine!! So idk if this will be more common maybe? Also to note I didn’t exercise yesterday but I will today so I may eat 1500calories to help build muscle
