I'm interested in IF and in particular OMAD. Mostly because of some of the mental benefits and I like that I only have to worry about eating once a day since I typically have a busy schedule.
However, I'm not trying to lose weight. I'm already in pretty good shape (6' 170lbs ~10% bf). If anything I'd like to gain maybe 5lbs of muscle.
Currently I'm eating a lot spread across 3 meals. I don't particularly follow a specific diet, but basically I eat a lot of eggs, red meat/fish and fruits. No grains (except occasional rice) and vegetables only sometimes if it's served to me.
I guess I'm just wondering if I were to do OMAD, would I be able to gain weight? Given how much I work out and what not, I would have to be eating a lot of calories in that one meal, right? And I'm wondering if that is even possible. I get pretty full from my lunch/dinner as it is.
Does anyone here have experience gaining weight/muscle on OMAD eating strictly clean foods? Thanks!
Answer
20/24 might be better for you as you probably need a lot more calories to maintain your weight than most people would be able to eat in one sitting. I only need 1400 per day to maintain because I’m little. Even trying to get that down in one meal can be a challenge if I’m eating no sugar/no grain. Sometimes I have to take a half out break to be able to eat more. Good luck!
