My daughter is 25 months old and we’re still breastfeeding. I normally do 20:4 and have worked my way up to OMAD on occasions. I wish my milk would just dry out and my daughter gets off of me lol but we’re still trucking. I’ve been on keto and IF for a year and have lost 80lbs.
I was ravenous all the time when I was breastfeeding, listen to your body and eat when you need to. I stuck to at least 12 hours fasting, sometimes 14 or 16 when I could manage it. You’ll get back into it at some point, but you need to nourish yourself and another right at this moment.
Hello! I’m breastfeeding too, I’m doing a short overnight IF, usually 14:10 but sometimes 12:12 (sounds like nothing but it helps me to avoid the evening snacks).
I have tried longer (16:8) but something wasn’t working for me personally and I ended up too hungry for the rest of the day, so it was something I couldn’t stick with.
The best advice I had was that the best routine is the one you can stick with!
I worked out a very low calorie but satiating breakfast which works for me, and so I take that first thing, keeps me going till lunch, again I have a light lunch which works for me (small but calorie dense rather than lots of chewing) and then my main meal is an early dinner (super early) with the kids, then the IF starts.
I’m sure you will find a routine that works for you!
I am in the same situation as you. My son is almost 20 months and he won’t wean 😝. I get so hungry on some mornings. I noticed that it happens around my period. In those cases I just eat something small to help. But I do feel your pain trying to meet goals while trying to make the baby happy. Thankfully I haven’t had a drop in supply while being on IF the past few months.
I’ve been fasting for 4 weeks now, mostly 18:6 with some 20:4 thrown in, and still breastfeeding my 6m old. I haven’t noticed any major supply issues and have been making sure to drink tons of water and eat at least 1500 cals per day.
