It gets better and easier with time

29/M SW- 126-130kg (was too scared to weigh myself at the beginning of the year) CW- 122kg GW- 90kg IBW- 70kg After trying to lose weight multiple times, and having the scale go up more times than down, and gaining almost 50kg in the last 10 years, I decided this year to give it my best shot at taking off that weight, mainly because it started affecting my sleep and health in general. I had started developing florid signs of insulin resistance (acanthosis nigricans), though I was not yet a diabetic. Started off in January aiming for atleast a 13 hour fasting period and trying on most days for 16:8. With regard to exercise, I've started trying to be more active, and trying consistently to reach 10k steps/day. I've only started exercising at the gym this week, that too is mostly cardio. I realised food delivery apps were my biggest obstacle, and so I deleted them from my phone. Decided to use them on my PC instead. From ordering out 3-4 times/day, I've come down to ordering out once every 1-2 days. What I've learnt is that creating a method and consistently coming back to it and troubleshooting when required is the best way to move forward. It doesn't have to be drastic steps, just consistent ones. Analysing my weaknesses and finding simple solutions to overcome those weaknesses has also been helpful. Intermittent fasting has been the most powerful tool thus far. It specifically targets one of my reasons for gaining weight- snacking throughout the day, and late night meals. It also specifically targets one of my reasons for starting the journey- insulin resistance. There have been days when I've completely lost it and ended up eating twice of what I'm supposed to eat in a day, but it helped to just restart intermittent fasting the next day at my normal pace (instead of trying to compensate on the next day by trying a longer fast, lower calories, etc). This is another thing which I've been doing differently from my previous attempts. I'm excited today to see the weight I've lost. The non scale benefits are even better. I'm seeing benefits with respect to my energy levels and general mood. I feel more confident and people have been commenting on how I seem better dressed than before. I'm sharing this with all of you, hoping that some part of it will help some of you. Also, there's a long way to go and I hope I'll be able to stick to these things as time passes.

Your weights threw me for a minute! I didn’t realise I had gotten used to people writing in lbs. I was wondering why you were trying to lose so much weight! I like your approach. It seems a sustainable, long term plan. Don’t be too hard on yourself and take each day as it comes. Best of luck!
