It’s time

Hey y’all, I’ve been lurking this sub for over a year now and have dabbled with IF with some success, but haven’t really stuck to it yet. Now it’s time to get serious. I just got diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and the doc says I need to lose 10% of my body weight in six months. I’m making my first post here to ask for tips, advice, encouragement, & accountability. Here are some of my stats and my current situation: 33yo female 5’6 230lbs (GW: ~150) I am a SAHM so my schedule is quite flexible, and I have been vegetarian for 13 years but occasionally eat salmon. My big food hang ups have been sweets (chocolate, cookies, ice cream), ordering out too much (pizza, burritos, fries) and snacking at night when I stay up too late. I’m hoping to get down around 140-150 but for now I’ll be glad to get below 200 and to reverse this liver damage. Thanks in advance for any advice/support you can provide!

Answer

I hope this isn’t too rough, but your problem is caused by chronic excessive carbohydrate consumption. If you want to fix your situation, do yourself a favor and eat fewer than 50g total carbs every day, as a start. Look at the things you’re eating and determine their carb quantity, and adjust as necessary.

Replace the carbs with healthy fats and protein. Protein protein protein. A natural side-effect of eating low carb, high protein, and moderate-to-high fat is (after some form of bodily adjustment that will happen for you) that you will naturally gravitate towards eating twice or even once per day, with almost zero effort.

Look into it and consider it!

Id an for a 16/8 fasting daily starting at 6 pm. This will cut out night snacking and hopefully get you to bed a little earlier. You will then get to eat again at 10ish for a late breakfast. If you can have a later lunch and dinner around 530 ish. A healthy routine is key for change and it needs to be a life change. If you arent in it for the life you will get the fatty liver right back. This is your chance to get your health back (and maybe your last :()
