January fasting

I am 58 years old in 2-23 165 lb start Worked out 4 days a week since June 2022: yoga, weights, 30 min of cardio. Never missed a day. Lost 0 pounds (although I did get a bit skinnier and am definitely stronger). Started interment fasting Jan 1 2023 because my husband did it and he found it worked. I eat in an 8 hour period. I try to eat 3 meals in those 8 hours. I teach, so am locked into 11 am start. I mostly eat healthly in that time period, but try to fit in 3 meals. "Breakfast" (11 am) is usually poached chicken and veggies with some kind of sauce (tomato, curry, enchilada, italian dressing). "Lunch" at 3pm what's left of same. Work out or work late and eat left overs or snacks before 7 pm. I still drink alcohol at night, not confined to the 8 hours. Probably 3-4 glasses of wine 4-5 nights a week. I know... I would lose so much more if I cut this out. It's not an amazing change... but I have FINALLY lost some weight: 4-5 lbs over January. So I would say that the system works, at least for me.

Wow are we twins? I’m turning 58 2/22, started around 168 lbs and also work in an elementary school. I started 16:8 Jan 1, clean fasting (gave up milk in my coffee) and have maintained a 16:8/18:6 sometimes 20:4 fasting schedule. Also CICO using LoseIt and adding in walking/light exercise. I’m down about 8 lbs!

I decided to limit drinking to the weekends, Fri-Sun, after the holidays. I just find I sleep better during the week with no wine! I do only consume it though during my feasting hours. If I have something going on on the weekends I try to fast longer and move my feeding window to compensate.

I’m post-menopausal and it’s much harder to lose weight than it was even 10 years ago. It’s slow, but steady so far and the non-scale benefits from IF have helped keep me motivated.

Just wanted to say I know the stress from working in education! Congratulations on your steady progress and here’s to spring break coming soon!
